A series of three seminars about analysis of genomic/transcriptomic and meta-genomic / meta-transcriptomic datasets
Dear Faculty,
On August 3rd to August 5th a series of three seminars will be given by Steffen Lott- a Guest PhD student in our lab and an environmental bioinformatician focusing on microbial oceanography.
The topics of the lectures will be:
a) A short introduction to applied bioinformatics
b) Galaxy - a useful GIU platform to approach NGS data sets
c) MEGAN and CoVennTree - applications for the assessment of metagenomic data sets
All seminars will take place in the Seminar room of the Lilfe Sciences Library (1st floor, Building 212) Monday to Wednesday (3-5 August) 12:00-14:00 (the seminars might eventually be shorter, I booked the room for 2 hours to keep the option of having long discussions).
The seminars are aimed for all biologists dealing with the challenges of analyzing NGS data sets- especially (but not solely) environmental samples, and are suppose to provide introduction for some relevant applications and tools available for analysis of such data sets.
The seminars are open for everyone, but i will appreciate it if you would register in advance by sending me an email-
See you there !
Cheers,
Dan Miller
