Biotechnology (.M.Sc)
What will you study, and why should you study at Bar-Ilan?
The biotechnology industry—both in Israel and worldwide—needs graduates who can translate scientific knowledge into innovations that improve human health, environmental sustainability, food systems, and medical care. It seeks professionals who think scientifically, work with advanced research methodologies, analyze complex data, and turn discoveries into real-world solutions. The Master’s Program in Biotechnology is designed for those who aspire to be part of this transformative work.
From the very first day, students in Bar-Ilan University’s M.Sc. in Biotechnology are immersed in hands-on research. Working alongside leading researchers, they develop a deep understanding of core biological processes and gain experience across all stages of scientific inquiry—from formulating research questions to interpreting results. Coursework is closely integrated with laboratory training, exposing students to the full pathway by which scientific ideas evolve into impactful applications.
The experience gained throughout the program opens doors to a wide range of careers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, clinical and research laboratories, food and nutraceutical companies, agricultural and environmental innovation, medical institutions, and science-based start-ups. This degree positions its graduates at the forefront of Israel’s biotechnology ecosystem, providing a strong professional foundation for leading scientific projects and developing true expertise in the field.
Career Opportunities
The combination of strong biological foundations, hands-on experimental training, and in-depth research experience makes graduates highly sought-after candidates for roles such as:
Research and development and production positions in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries
Positions in clinical, medical, and biochemical laboratories
Research and development roles in food, dietary supplement, and cosmetics companies
Agricultural innovation and environmental biotechnology
Clinical trials units and applied research roles within hospitals
Research and development positions in science-based start-up companies
Research assistants and laboratory managers in public and academic research institutes
Teaching and instructional roles in the life sciences
