Departmental Guidelines for PhD Studies – 2025/26

The Faculty of Life Sciences welcomes you to your PhD studies and wishes you every success in the upcoming academic year.

Requirements – Standard Track (80601)

PhD students must complete a total of 8 annual hours (AH) = 16 credits, including:

3 regular seminars from the faculty’s proposed list (In Hebrew)

Each seminar = 1 credit
Biostatistics and Introduction to Clinical Trials (80534)

Students with exemptions based on prior studies may replace these 3 credits with elective courses
Scientific Writing Course

Two course options available in Semester B (one still pending approval, not yet in the system)
Skills for research students (80728)

Additional electives to complete 16 credits

(for students with exemptions)

Selected according to research area and supervisor approval

Mandatory annual registration (no credits):

  • 809000 – Colloquium

  • 80769 – PhD Dissertation

PhD students must complete a total of 6 annual hours (AH) = 12 credits, including:

Elective Courses

Students may choose electives from the faculty’s course (In Hebrew) offerings according to their research area and supervisor approval.

Additionally, students may participate in courses offered by the Inter-University Institute in Eilat.

 

English Requirement

A course in English may appear in your timetable, but registration is not mandatory.

  • The Secretariat will forward confirmation of meeting the English requirement to the PhD Committee when submitting the dissertation for review.

  • Students who wish to take a PhD-level course in English may register through the timetable system.
