Life Sciences and Psychology (Double Major) (.B.Sc)
What will you study, and why should you study at Bar-Ilan?
The dual-major program in Life Sciences and Psychology is a unique program that bridges the gap between understanding biological mechanisms and behavior and mental processes. This integration provides an in-depth understanding of human behavior from two complementary perspectives. The curriculum includes foundational knowledge in both psychology and biology and expands on topics in neurophysiology.
Psychology courses are taught alongside psychology students, and biology courses are taught with life sciences students, allowing for deep and effective learning in both fields. This structure opens up opportunities for students to continue in either field individually or in combination.
Activities and Practical Experience
The Life Sciences program includes hands-on experience in two teaching laboratories: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Additionally, in the third year, students can apply to join a research laboratory within one of the Faculty's research groups, subject to availability and the acceptance criteria of each group.
Program Structure
Life Sciences Courses – 79 CP (70 CP required, 9 CP elective)
Psychology Courses – 54 CP (50 CP required, 4 CP elective)
The Life Sciences curriculum includes:
Year 1: Primarily introductory courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics (36 CP required courses in Life Sciences).
Year 2: Core Biology courses such as Biochemistry, Genetics, and Molecular Biology (24 CP in Life Sciences).
Year 3: Required courses (8 CP), Seminar (2 CP), and Elective courses (9 CP) in Life Sciences.
