Message from the Dean

Welcome to The Mina & Everard Goodman Faculty of Life Sciences at Bar-Ilan University.

The Faculty of Life Sciences offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs.  The research topics are extremely diverse and include basic, clinical and applicative researches in the following fields: the Immune System, Cancer Research, Brain Sciences, Plant Sciences, Vision Science Stem Cells, Ecology, Marine biology, Fertility, Parasitology, Microbiology, Structural Biology, Developmental Biology, Biophysics, Computational Biology, and Biotechnology.

Many of the Faculty's programs are accredited by the relevant professional bodies within their sectors, providing our graduates with excellent career opportunities. They also offer our graduates the option of continuing on to graduate studies. Our Faculty is committed to cooperations with industry and hospitals to address some of the most compelling challenges of today and tomorrow.

The Faculty focuses on attracting exceptional faculty and students, enhancing the excellence of our graduate programs, developing and sustaining high-impact research programs, and increasing our public and private fund-raising capabilities.

Our Faculty offers a vibrant environment in which learning and scholarship are preeminent. Our graduates are urged to continue towards an MSc degree, and we offer advanced courses and state-of-the-art  research within the framework of the different research groups. Students who complete their Master studies with honors can proceed to doctoral studies in an abridged program. In this program, the two years of the Master's study are credited towards the doctoral degree, enabling the student to finish their degree within an additional 2-3 years.

The Faculty encourages research students to carry out basic and in-depth research that will be suitable for publication in the top scientific journals. In addition, we encourage the doctoral graduates to participate in a post-doctoral training period in order to complete their scientific education and thus be worthy of acceptance into an academic or research institution.

The Faculty of Life Sciences is currently undergoing accelerated development, which is expressed in the absorption of outstanding scientists, the construction of new research laboratories, and the acquisition of advanced scientific instrumentation.

The warm collegial relations, the pleasant atmosphere, and the mutual help that exists between all researchers, and of course the research students, should be mentioned. This is of utmost importance for the maintenance of high-level research and instruction.

Please take the time to explore this site and learn more about our programs, faculty, students, and alumni. I always welcome your comments, questions, and suggestions.
